Privacy Statement

The Journal of Convergence Mobility (JCM) is published by the Institute of Convergence Mobility, Dankook University. This statement explains what personal data the journal collects through this site, why it is collected, who can see it, and how long it is kept. It is issued under Article 30 of the Personal Information Protection Act of the Republic of Korea.

What we collect

Account and submission records: name, affiliation, e-mail address, telephone number (optional), ORCID iD (optional for co-authors), username and password, country, and the biography, interests and correspondence a user chooses to supply.

JCM does not collect resident registration numbers, passport numbers, driver's licence numbers, alien registration numbers, or biometric data of any kind.

The server also records ordinary access logs — IP address, date and time, and the page requested — for security and for usage statistics.

Why we collect it

  • To operate submission, peer review, editing and publication.
  • To contact authors, reviewers and editors about a submission.
  • To credit authorship and affiliation in published articles, and to supply article metadata to indexing services (KCI, Crossref, DOI registration agencies and comparable services).
  • To compile aggregate readership statistics.

Data entered on this site is used only for the purposes stated here. It is not sold, and it is not made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

Consent

Personal data is collected with the consent of the person concerned, given at registration. Consent may be withdrawn at any time by contacting the journal; withdrawal may make it impossible to continue processing a submission already under review.

Who can see what

Editors and the managing editor can see the account and submission records needed to run the review. JCM operates double-anonymous peer review: authors and reviewers are not shown each other's identity. The name, affiliation, e-mail address and ORCID iD of the authors of a published article are public, as is normal scholarly practice.

Protection

  • All traffic is served over an encrypted connection (TLS/SSL).
  • Account passwords must be at least nine characters long, and users are asked to combine letters, numbers and symbols. The requirement is enforced by the system at registration and at every password change.
  • Passwords are stored one-way hashed and cannot be recovered in readable form by anyone, including the journal.
  • Access to personal data is limited to those whose role requires it, and administrative access is restricted.
  • Access logs are retained for at least one year.

How long it is kept

Account and submission records are kept for as long as the account exists and for the period required for the scholarly record. Data relating to published articles is retained permanently as part of that record. A user may ask for their account to be closed and their personal data deleted, except where the data forms part of a published article.

Your rights

You may ask to see, correct, or delete the personal data JCM holds about you, and to withdraw consent. Contact the journal at the address on the Contact page.

Changes

Any change to this statement will be published on this page before it takes effect.
